Standards
Based on the proposal of the System Accreditation Task Force, the university management sets standards for the central model of quality assurance and development in teaching and learning, which should guide the actions of both the quality officers and the faculties:
Structural standards
Institutional and organizational contexts, including personnel, spatial, material and equipment requirements
- The quality development system at OVGU is developed and established using and maintaining existing resources.
- The quality development system corresponds to current scientific standards and is scientifically supported by OVGU's university research.
- The system follows the principle of subsidiarity.
- The system is coordinated and supported by the quality officers.
- Quality development is the responsibility of the faculties together with the university management.
- Each faculty appoints at least one quality officer.
- The quality strategy of the faculties is based on the central guidelines and standards and is reflected in the corresponding implementation regulations
Process standards
to change or involve actions, interactions, experiences, work processes and recipient participation
- The system is developed and implemented in a process-oriented manner using closed control loops.
- The university defines goals, central processes and general standards for studying and teaching at OVGU on the basis of a common understanding of quality.
- Together with the faculties and students, these standards and processes are differentiated, further developed and reviewed for their effectiveness.
- The faculties independently develop and establish further measures within the framework of the quality development system and evaluate these (faculty-specific implementation regulations).
- The quality representatives of the faculties are in regular contact with each other and with the central and student quality representative and provide information on current quality development measures at the faculty and their evaluation.
- The central quality officer is involved in all central projects to improve the quality of studies and teaching.
- Those involved in the quality development system, in particular the quality officers, are in constant contact with each other nationally, internationally and within the university, report regularly on current developments and adapt the system accordingly.
Result standards
Ensuring the commitment of quality actions to objectives, recording the degree to which objectives are achieved (effectiveness) and the cost-benefit ratio (efficiency), analyzing output and outcome (performance and its effectiveness)
- Based on their shared understanding of quality, all members of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg implement a high-quality culture of quality in teaching and learning, which is based on trust, transparency and collegial development.
- The established standards and procedures take up existing strengths and processes, integrate them and take into account the special features of the faculties through individual creative freedom.
- The quality development system is designed to be event-driven and realistic in terms of effort and is regularly reviewed for its effectiveness.
- The analysis of the achievement of objectives is based on the involvement of the expertise of all those involved in studying and teaching as well as external experts and the critical examination of information and data relevant to the study program.
